Finding the hidden Potential

Walls, windows, and doors oh my....
After a little cleaning of trash and other odd findings we can begin planning, measuring and brain storming on how to layout the garome.

The picutures below represent the "liveable" space.  Pictures are taken from the four corners of the whole space.

The side of the garome will be the future bath/laundry & kichen.

Garage doors will be removed - man door removed - add walls & add windows.

This will be the front of the garome - there will be windows & new front door. Blacked out area will be the garage portion - new wall to be built.

This is the back of the garome - will be the bedroom area.

10 Questions - on what the heck is going on...

So I want to try to answer as many questions as I can with this first official post about the Garome.

1. What in the h-e-double hockey sticks is a Garome? Well, it is a garage + home = garome. Get it, clever right.

2. Why would you do such a crazy thing? Well for those closest to us crazy is attached to us. We have never followed the normal path - EVER, so why start now.
For the newbies, buying property in the country was always a dream for us....so this was a dream come true for us.......and then realty hit - the house on the property was going to be a total loss, it was FULL of mold, now what?

3.  How long did you (meaning Katie) cry when you found out the house had to be torn down?  Not that long.

4.  How long did you (meaning Katie) cry when you found out from the township that trailers of no kind were allowed?  Not long - but longer than the house being torn down.

5.  When did you see rainbows and unicorns when you looked at a semi-done 32' by 64' pole building?  Not long after all that darn crying

6.  How many people have told you were CRAZY?  A-LOT plus one!

7.  What exactly are you doing?  We are converting a 32' by 64' pole building to a house and garage. House will be roughly 1200 square feet with 2 stall garage.

8.  How the heck are you going to do that?  Well thanks to a husband that is a master DYI'er and my savy and budget friendly eye for design we will create an amazing home garome.

9.  Do you have a time schedule? Yes/No, we both feel that a home (garome in our case) is something that is ever changing, however we are currently in an apartment and have given ourselves a 12 week deadline (June 30th) to move to the garome. We both know that not everything will done but we have two specific areas that must be complete by that time - boys room & bathroom!

10.  Anything else? YES  - FOLLOW OUR JOURNEY - BE INSPIRED - LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST - THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX and ALWAYS BELIEVE that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!
